Realization Systems, Inc. (RSI) Announces RealizationEngine 1.0 Released to Open Source Community
Open Source company releases software to improve communications within organizations.
Hagerman, NM, 29.May.2002 – Realization Systems, Inc. (www.realizationsystems.com), today announced the availability of RealizationEngine 1.0 for download. The RealizationEngine is a web-based communication tool for companies, groups and organizations that is designed to enhance communication at all levels of the organization, improve retention and sharing of information and documentation. The RealizationEngine is a very easy to use communication tool that lowers the common barriers to communication, and eliminates the need for each individual to archive and maintain communications such as e-mails or memos. All messages are stored and displayed in context and archived in a central location.
“We're very excited to be able to release this software back to the Open Source community that has contributed so much to our success over the years,” said Jody Harris, President of Realization Systems. “By employing a dual-licensing model, we will be able to offer this great project to most people at no charge, but still allow companies to build proprietary products on our code if they choose to purchase a non-GPL License.”
Following the example of Open Source stars MySQL (www.mysql.com) and SleepyCat Software (www.sleepycat.com), Realization Systems hopes to capitalize on the community of Open Source users while not locking companies that wish to build closed-source products on their code out by offering seperate licenses to those companies. “We're very exited,” said Mr. Harris, “We think that the RealizationEngine will continue to change the way people communicate, and we hope that other users and companies will be able to extend this technology in exciting ways. When we started this project, we soon realized that there was no way we could anticipate all the ways that this technology can be used, and only by opening the source would it be able to reach it's potential.”
